Day twenty one

I am on my way by 10:00 and going strong, probably helped by a slight tail wind and good sleep. My ankle healed perfectly, so the ice pack must have helped and I also had no itching during the night. It is a super run mostly along the coast. Much of the morning is spent on a dirt track, which weaves its way up and down alongside a canal. It's a bumpy ride but as an ex cyclo-crosser in my distant past it brings back fond memories and the bike (a Giant btw) takes it all in its stride perfectly.

Flamingos a few meters from the cycle path, not the first I have seen but they were certainly the closest. Of course a smartphone does not do justice to the scene. I cover well over 50km today and as I rode yesterday when it could have been a rest day I felt comfortable finishing a bit earlier today. I have no idea where I am but found a campsite and Narbonne is certainly not far away.

So this marks three weeks into my trip and I'm only really a bit over halfway. I get delayed by all sorts of things, taking photos, chatting to the many friendly and interesting people, losing my way, looking for food and water, not to mention the biggest challenge setting up camp and decamping, which always takes up a huge chunk of the day. It all leaves little time for riding and blogging.
